Vacancy Summary

To provide programming skills to assist the development, maintenance and support of the Mainframe applications which manage and report the movement of stock from our worldwide supplier base through to the NEXT Stores.

Responsibilities

To work closely with out user community to provide both technical and non technical advice

To provide some out-of-hours support, on a rota basis.

To provide programming and analysis skills in core languages.

Maintain and improve team standards.

Criteria
Essential Criteria:
Proven commercial experience in COBOL, Adabas / Natural, JCL

Experience within a team-based development environment
Requires an enthusiastic approach to working in a challenging and demanding environment where priorities can change at short notice
Proven ability of working on own initiative and whilst under pressure.
Possess very good verbal and written communication skills
Be able to demonstrate a logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
Excellent research/analysis skills.
Demonstrate the ability to formulate effective test plans

Desirable Criteria:

Any experience of VB.NET & ASP.NET, HTML, XML, Microsoft SQL Server would be advantageous but not a requisite.

Whilst assistance and training will be given to the right candidate, it is expected that you have the aptitude and self-motivation to develop your own skills and knowledge within the team environment.
